Serving South Florida, the Florida Keys & Florida’s Gulf Coast.

GEOTECHNICAL DRILLING
(SPT)
Subsurface Investigations and Foundation Evaluation

We perform Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings to evaluate soil stratigraphy, limestone depth, groundwater conditions, and foundation bearing capacity throughout South Florida and the Florida Keys, including Monroe County coastal developments.
The data collected forms the basis for practical, defensible foundation recommendations tailored to residential, commercial, and coastal development projects.
All drilling and reporting are conducted in accordance with current industry standards, supporting clear engineering conclusions and construction risk mitigation.
SOIL PERCOLATION TEST

(Open Hole Constant-Head Method)

We perform open hole constant-head percolation testing to evaluate soil infiltration capacity and groundwater interaction for residential and commercial development projects.
Testing is conducted in accordance with applicable Florida Department of Health and local regulatory requirements to support septic system permitting, stormwater design, and site development approvals.
Results are documented and reported by a licensed professional engineer to ensure defensible, code-compliant recommendations.

Track-Mounted Geotechnical Drilling (SPT)
Subsurface Investigations for Confident Foundation Design

CVIII Engineering Group provides subsurface investigations utilizing modern track-mounted drilling equipment to perform Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings throughout South Florida, the Florida Keys, and Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Typical investigations range from residential foundations to coastal and commercial development projects requiring limestone evaluation and bearing capacity analysis.
Our subsurface explorations evaluate soil stratigraphy, limestone depth, groundwater levels, and bearing capacity to provide clear, defensible foundation recommendations tailored to residential, commercial, and coastal development projects.
All fieldwork is conducted in accordance with current industry standards and documented in a signed and sealed geotechnical engineering report prepared by a licensed Professional Engineer.
Engineering Analysis & Foundation Design

From Field Data to Defensible Design

Our engineering evaluations transform subsurface investigation data into clear, practical, and defensible foundation recommendations.
Using field data obtained through Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings and site investigations, we evaluate soil stratigraphy, limestone depth, groundwater conditions, and bearing capacity to support informed foundation design decisions.
We provide:
-
Soil parameter evaluation
-
Allowable bearing capacity analysis
-
Shallow and deep foundation design parameters
-
Pile foundation recommendations
-
Retaining wall analysis and design parameters
-
Settlement evaluation
-
Earthwork and site preparation recommendations
Each recommendation is developed to support residential, commercial, and coastal construction projects and is tailored to site-specific subsurface conditions.
All engineering analyses are performed in accordance with current industry standards and applicable Florida Building Code requirements. Findings and recommendations are documented in a signed and sealed geotechnical engineering report prepared by a licensed Professional Engineer.

Soil Density Testing

Field Compaction Verification

Field density testing verifies that compacted soil meets the required compaction standards for structural support.
We perform in-place density testing to confirm that fill and subgrade soils achieve the specified percentage of maximum dry density as determined by laboratory Proctor testing (ASTM standards).
Results are reported as a percentage of maximum dry density and compared to project specifications and applicable Florida Building Code requirements.
Proper compaction verification is essential for:
-
Foundation and slab support
-
Pavement subgrades
-
Structural fill placement
-
Settlement control
-
Overall long-term performance
All testing is performed in accordance with current ASTM procedures and documented in a signed report prepared by a licensed Professional Engineer when required.
